Reporting to: Relevant Shift Team Leader
Location: Forth, Lanark, South Lanarkshire, ML11 8TS
Summary of the role: Carry out operational requirements in line with plant. Carry out key plant checks and flag deviations. Flag first line defects within CMMS. Key roles within safety rules – Selected Person.
Core Tasks, Responsibilities & Duties:
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of all activities on site including gasification plant, a high-pressure boiler, economizer and FGT, turbine and generator, together with associated auxiliary plant - including first-line fault diagnosis.
- Assist the shift team with monitoring the plant from the DCS system, operate other auxiliary systems and equipment as required by the operational demands.
- Assist in ensuring day to day compliance with all aspects of the environmental permit, reporting any non-compliance or incident to the shift team leader.
- Carry out routine plant inspections and adjustments / operations as required collecting and recording plant data.
- Work within the company’s health and safety, quality, and environmental management system and all relevant legislation.
- Monitor stocks and take receipt of consumables / collection of residues.
- Assist other company staff and contractors as required.
- To be aware of and work within the company environmental and quality systems.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks and duties as requested by management.
- Undertake continuing personal development to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
- Operate a variety of mobile equipment and fixed plant.
Ad Hoc Tasks, Responsibilities & Duties:
- Undertake any reasonable requests or tasks as directed by the Line Manager or GOL Management.
Company Specific Responsibilities:
- Adhere to HSEQ policy, procedures and guidelines at all times (Safety First).
- Commit to understanding and adhere to GOL’s values, vision, mission, TOM (Target Operating Model) and RADS (Responsible, Approve, Deliver, Support) Matrix.
- Contribute towards improving work culture across GOL.
- Complete and support annual, half yearly and quarterly performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all GOL policies and procedures.
- Deliver quality and timely output as per agreed standards.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Existing right to work in the UK.
- Willingness to travel (Within UK).
Education:
- Completed recognized engineering or operational apprenticeship or hold similar relevant qualifications.
Professional Experience:
- Experience of mechanical and/or electrical plant with experience of plant operations, ideally with experience in an engineering or a maintenance role.
- Experience gained through working in a continuous process environment, preferably with experience of working shifts.
- Awareness of PTW, SSOW Trainings/Certification.
IT Skills:
- IT literate and able to use Microsoft package as well as bespoke software (experience of MAXIMO or similar).

- Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations.
- Self-starter individual with a can-do attitude.

- Excellent communication skills: English (verbal and written both).
- Knowledge of and familiarity with waste management and EfW sector.
- Good communication to explain issues at hand clearly and effectively.
- Able to operate, or train to operate a variety of mobile equipment and fixed plant.
- A recognised Safety qualification – IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
