We’re working with a well-established property owner and manager to find a Building Maintenance Engineer for a major retail, leisure, and workspace destination in South West London.
This is a vibrant, mixed-use site that serves as a hub for the local community – a place to shop, eat, work, and connect. As part of the on-site team, you’ll help ensure the building operates smoothly, providing a high-quality environment for visitors, tenants, and staff alike.
If you’re a skilled engineer with a strong customer focus and a proactive approach to maintenance, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a landmark London property.
You’ll be responsible for a mix of planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs, supporting the day-to-day operations of the site. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – from keeping essential systems running to addressing everyday maintenance issues.
What you’ll be doing
- Delivering PPM and reactive maintenance across the site, maintaining high service standards.
- Supervising specialist contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and effectively.
- Supporting health & safety compliance, including statutory checks, life safety system testing, and water hygiene monitoring.
- Managing meter readings and contributing to energy management initiatives.
- Carrying out minor installations, building fabric repairs, and general upkeep of common areas.
- Identifying ways to improve service delivery and reduce costs, including self-delivery opportunities.
- Keeping maintenance records updated and assisting in future maintenance planning.
- Building positive relationships with tenants, contractors, and colleagues, acting as a key point of contact on site.
You’ll need experience in a similar maintenance role, along with a mechanical qualification (C&G or equivalent). Basic electrical or fabric repair experience would be a bonus.
You’ll be familiar with building systems like HVAC, have a good understanding of health and safety, COSHH, and water hygiene standards, and be confident working with contractors and tenants. Above all, a proactive, problem-solving approach and strong customer service focus are essential.
