An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Town Planner to join a well-established and growing planning consultancy based in Leeds. The business has an excellent reputation within the market and is involved in a diverse range of projects across renewable energy, infrastructure, commercial development, minerals, waste and residential sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile projects, managing schemes through the planning process whilst supporting the growth and development of a talented planning team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a portfolio of planning projects from inception through to determination.
  • Prepare and coordinate planning applications, supporting statements and related documentation.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to a wide range of private and public sector clients.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement, including local authorities, consultants, statutory bodies and community representatives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants.
  • Undertake site appraisals, planning due diligence and development feasibility assessments.
  • Contribute to business development activities and help strengthen existing client relationships.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the planning team.
  • Assist with planning appeals, hearings and public inquiries where required.

Requirements

  • MRTPI qualified.
  • Degree and/or Master's qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Significant planning experience gained within either consultancy or local authority environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy framework.
  • Experience managing planning applications and delivering projects independently.
  • Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an ability to build client relationships.
  • Experience within infrastructure, energy, commercial, residential, minerals or waste sectors would be advantageous.
