An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic Teacher of Business Studies to join a warm, friendly and ambitious co-educational independent school for students aged 3–18, set within attractive rural parkland close to Northampton.
They are seeking an inspiring practitioner to teach A Level Business Studies to Sixth Form students. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the world of business and finance and the ability to motivate, challenge and support students to achieve their full potential.
The Role
They will be responsible for delivering high-quality A Level Business Studies provision to Sixth Form students. They will have oversight of student progress and contribute to annual reporting as required, working closely with the Assistant Head (Academic).
Key Responsibilities
- Teach A Level Business Studies, delivering engaging, well-structured and challenging lessons
- Plan, prepare and deliver a rigorous curriculum that inspires a love of learning
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Contribute to the school’s pastoral life, including Form Tutor responsibilities
- Participate as a member of a duty team
- Contribute to extra-curricular activities and wider enrichment opportunities
- Engage fully in CPD, INSET and the staff appraisal process
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, data protection, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their role
All staff are expected to support open days, taster days, school events and ongoing professional development.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A good honours degree in Economics, Business, or a related subject
- Ability to teach A Level Business Studies
- A passion for Business Studies and the ability to inspire students
- Evidence of effective lesson planning and delivery
- Strong classroom practice and behaviour management skills
- Good ICT skills
- Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- High expectations of students and colleagues; enthusiastic and forward-thinking
Desirable:
- Ability to interpret and use assessment data effectively
- Knowledge of effective intervention strategies
- Evidence of innovative practice or contribution to teaching and learning development
