Here’s how you’ll be a part of our team:

  • Above award hourly rates + overtime penalty rates
  • Monday to Friday roster with 7.6 hours worked between 7:00am and 5:00pm
  • Permanent full-time position
  • Stable, workshop and branch-based role with a supportive and close-knit team environment

Based at the Coates Cambridge branch, you’ll play a key role in keeping our hire fleet safe, reliable and ready for customers. This is a hands-on mechanical role suited to someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and taking pride in maintaining high-performing equipment.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Performing preventative maintenance, servicing and overhauls on a wide range of hire equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults efficiently and safely
  • Completing and maintaining accurate service and repair records
  • Working proactively to minimise operational downtime
  • Ensuring all work complies with Coates safety and quality standards
  • Close collaboration with operations, service and customer-facing teams to support equipment availability and a high level of customer satisfaction

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Relevant trade qualifications (e.g. Mechanical, Diesel, Plant Mechanic)
  • Experience with petrol and diesel engines
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Basic electrical fault finding
  • Current Driver’s Licence (MR or HR preferred)
  • Forklift and EWP tickets (beneficial, not essential)
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skills
  • A safety-first mindset and a commitment to quality work
