The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer with experience in electrical design to join a highly skilled engineering team working on complex process machinery. The role sits at the intersection of design and practical engineering. You’ll be involved in developing control panels, supporting panel build activities, and working closely with automation and controls engineers to bring machinery designs to life. This position would suit someone who enjoys both the design side of engineering and staying closely connected to hands-on build and integration work.

The Role

  • Design and develop electrical control panels for complex machinery
  • Produce and update electrical schematics and wiring layouts
  • Work closely with the automation team on PLC-controlled systems
  • Support panel build, wiring, and machine integration activities
  • Contribute to full machine projects from concept through to commissioning
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving electrical/control issues
  • Liaise with internal engineering teams to ensure design accuracy and build feasibility
  • Provide practical engineering input during installation and testing phases

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Electrically qualified (HNC / HND / Degree or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in electrical design within a machinery or process engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of control panel design and electrical systems
  • Good working knowledge of PLC-controlled systems (programming not essential, but understanding required)
  • Experience working with automation or controls engineering teams
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce electrical schematics
  • A practical mindset with the ability to support hands-on build and commissioning work
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
