As Subject Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring exceptional teaching, learning and assessment across our Sport & Public Services programmes. You will act as our subject expert, guide and mentor staff, and build strong links with employers to keep our curriculum industry-relevant and future-focused. You will support the Head of Curriculum and Skills and deputise when required, helping to drive forward curriculum development, quality processes, and operational activity within the area.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the planning, delivery and review of high-quality, industry-focused programmes.
- Leading curriculum development to reflect current sector trends and employer needs.
- Acting as the subject and industry expert - supporting staff, students, and curriculum quality.
- Coordinating work experience and industry placements alongside employer partners.
- Guiding and mentoring colleagues to promote excellent teaching and learning practice.
- Managing resources, equipment and budgets within the subject area.
- Organising enrichment and personal-development opportunities for learners.
- Monitoring student progress, outcomes and destinations.
- Deputising for the Head of Curriculum and Skills as required.
Qualifications and requirements:
- English and Maths at Level 2 or above
- Level 5+ Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject
- Membership of a relevant professional/regulatory body
- Experience of teaching in FE or a related sector
- Up-to-date subject and industry knowledge
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
- Ability to support quality teaching and learning
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance
- Commitment to safeguarding and an enhanced DBS check
Desirable experience:
- Experience contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement
- Experience working with employers/external stakeholders
- Willingness to deputise for the Head of Curriculum and Skills
- Commitment to learner engagement and positive destinations
