Opportunity to join a small fun finance team. You won’t just be doing one repetitive task over and over; you will be exposed to all areas of the business, allowing you to learn practical hands-on skills covering all bookkeeping tasks and payroll for both weekly and monthly paid employees.

Hours: 08:00 to 17:00 (30 mins lunch) Mon – Thurs and 08:00 to 12:00 on Friday (no lunch) – exact timings to be discussed at the interview. 38 hours a week.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work:

  • An accounts/finance assistant will help gather and input data and check for errors.
  • Match off supplier invoices to purchase orders.
  • Match delivery notes to customer orders and raise sales invoices.
  • Help to collate hours for weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Generally assist the company with data input and analysis to help the finance department.

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. The apprentice will attend Coastland College one day per week (term-time only).

Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices. Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary. Plan and review accounting and finance tasks. Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks. Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Record transactional data.

Requirements: GCSE in Maths (grade 4). Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements: You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to attend an interview and assessment at Coastland College to ensure you meet the requirements for the apprenticeship.
