The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

This is a full time, fixed-term maternity cover position, with an expecting start date of July 2026 onwards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare schemes of learning, lesson plans and assessment plans for timetabled units.
  • Teach and complete summative and formative assessment/marking for timetabled units.
  • Teach groups of students in both practical, theory and online lessons using both of our Coneygar and Animal Park animal collections.
  • Monitor the attendance, punctuality and academic progress for all students in your groups providing them with access to any extra help they may require (e.g. learning support, careers, welfare), liaising closely with the Personal Development Coach.
  • Report to staff and parents/carers of students as necessary.
  • Contribute to course management, organisation and pastoral support of students, including admissions, enrolment, induction, careers education, guidance and progression, enrichment and curriculum development.
  • Ensure accurate records of learner progress are kept.
  • Organise and conduct trips and study tours as appropriate face to face or virtual.
  • Supervise students whilst they participate on training programmes and in practical lessons.
  • Organise and run demonstrations, guided tours and talks for visitors/students/applicants during open events, careers college and school careers events.
  • Contribute to course and department team meetings, supporting the development of the Animal Welfare & Science department.

Qualifications

We are looking for a teacher who has industry experience; is competent working with a range of domestic, large and exotic animal species and someone who is passionate about sharing their knowledge, experience and skills with our students, challenging them to improve their employability potential.
