We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial or Domestic Plumbing and Heating Engineer to join our commercial team. Our primary focus is on installation work with 25% maintenance/repair works. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and heating systems across commercial properties. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, practical skills with various tools, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The successful applicant will contribute to ensuring our clients' business can operate safely and efficiently.
Who we are: small commercial focused mechanical contracting business working in the following sectors - schools, hospital, retail, manufacturing, leisure/hospitality industries across Sussex and Kent with occasional working away for short periods (2-3 days). Working with a variety of pipe systems, methods and sizes from 1/2" to 20" in copper, steel, stainless steel, HDPE, MDPE and cast iron. From plumbing pipework to compressed air and steam systems, if you're looking for interesting varied work look no further.
Responsibilities:
- 1st and 2nd fix plumbing H&C services, soil waste water pipework within washrooms.
- Perform plumbing tasks related to plumbing and heating systems, including pipework installation, modifications and leak repairs.
- Install, service, and repair a range of heating systems including boilers, radiators, water heaters, pumps, and underfloor heating.
- Assist with system assembly and component fitting on-site or in workshops.
- Carry out heavy lifting of equipment and materials safely as required.
- Maintain detailed records of work completed and parts used for each job.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure optimal system performance.
- Diagnose faults accurately using specialised tools and mechanical knowledge.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times during installation or repair activities.
- Ability to identify non-compliant installation or items and bring to client attention.
Requirements:
- Gas safe registered.
- Valid CSCS card or willing to complete.
- Oil boiler experience not essential but would be desirable.
- Excellent communicator with management team and clients.
- Good time keeper with excellent organisation skills.
- Proven experience as a Plumbing and Heating Engineer or similar role within the HVAC industry.
- Proficiency with 1st and 2nd fix plumbing, assembly, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Flexibility for out of hours working when required.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to heating system components and operations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Valid driving licence suitable for commercial driving duties is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in both residential and commercial settings.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and technologies.
