Overview
Facilities, Waste and Grounds Services are looking to recruit two Project Development Assistants to join the new Waste Strategy Team based at Forrest Street Depot in Blantyre. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new team that will help shape the future of waste services in South Lanarkshire. With major policy and legislative changes on the horizon—including the Packaging Waste Extended Producer Responsibility Scheme (PEPR), the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024, and the Code of Practice on Household Waste and Recycling—we are looking for motivated individuals to help us deliver transformational change. The roles will support the development, management, and implementation of large-scale projects that will ensure South Lanarkshire Council delivers effective and efficient household waste services.
Location and Hours
Location: Forrest Street Depot, 18 Forrest Street, Blantyre, G72 0JP
Hours: 35 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday – Thursday 8.45am – 4:45pm and Friday 8.45am – 4.15pm
Salary
Salary: £28,340 – £33,231
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a full range of project management documentation for monitoring, evaluation and benefit realisation purposes.
- Facilitate project meetings and manage/maintain action logs.
- Assist with the development, co-ordination and monitoring of business cases.
- Support the development, management and implementation of large-scale projects to improve household waste services.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Conscientious with a willingness to learn and contribute to a team.
- Previous project management experience; experience in public sector procurement and/or the waste management sector would be highly desirable.
