Community & Enterprise Resources (Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services) are seeking an Operational Engineering Officer as part of a Construction Unit based in Canderside Depot. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual that will join a team who are engaged in a diverse range of road maintenance and operational activities.

Location: Canderside Depot, 1 Carlisle Road, Birkenshaw, Larkhall, ML9 2TP

Hours: 35 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 8:45am - 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am - 4:15pm

Salary: £40,804 - £46,991 annual salary

Key Responsibilities:

  • You must have a broad experience of Civil Engineering works and contracting in a road maintenance environment and be able to demonstrate a good in-depth working knowledge.
  • You will have experience and knowledge of roads contracting and the ability to proactively manage a challenging workload whilst meeting tight timescales and budgets.
  • You must be computer literate and have up to date knowledge of health and safety. Experience of tendering, procurement and contracts, processing financial documents and transactions is desirable.
  • You must hold a current driver's license as you will be expected to travel throughout the area of South Lanarkshire Council, outside public transport routes.
  • An HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Incorporated Engineer status with an appropriate Engineering body is desirable.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience of Civil Engineering works and contracting in a road maintenance environment; ability to demonstrate in-depth working knowledge.
  • Experience and knowledge of roads contracting; ability to manage workload with tight timescales and budgets.
  • Computer literacy and up-to-date health and safety knowledge.
  • Current driver's license; willingness to travel within the South Lanarkshire Council area.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering (desirable).
  • Incorporated Engineer status (desirable).
