Contract Type: Fixed term maternity cover for 1 year, part time, term time only

Contract Hours: 0.8 FTE,26 hours per week, Tuesday-Friday

We are seeking an exceptional Teacher to join our dedicated team, working with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, SEND and other barriers to learning. About the role

As a Teacher, you will deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire learning, raise attainment and support pupils' personal development. You will create a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed learning environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Working closely with Heads of Department, Lead Teachers, Pastoral Teams and other professionals, you will play a key role in promoting positive outcomes for pupils through effective teaching, strong pastoral support and high expectations.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

• Deliver outstanding teaching and learning across your subject area.
• Plan and teach lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with complex SEND and SEMH needs.
• Monitor, assess and track pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise achievement.
• Use a range of assessment techniques to inform planning and support pupil development.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback that enables pupils to reflect, improve and succeed.
• Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages independence and personal growth.
• Utilise technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.

Behaviour & Pastoral Support

• Use trauma-informed approaches to behaviour management and relationship building.
• Foster a culture of mutual respect, safety and high expectations.
• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, self-esteem and resilience.
• Work collaboratively with families, carers and external agencies to support pupil progress.
• Contribute to individual reviews, reports and multi‑agency meetings.

Wider School Contribution

• Support the school's pastoral and safeguarding priorities.
• Monitor pupil progress and help students set meaningful targets.
• Contribute positively to departmental and whole-school improvement initiatives.
• Stay up to date with educational research and evidence-based practice.
• Act as an excellent role model through professional conduct, presentation and commitment to continuous improvement.

About the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Has a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.

Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations for all learners.

Has experience working with young people who may be disadvantaged, vulnerable or difficult to engage.

Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills and a consistent, nurturing approach.

Has experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.

Is passionate about safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Possesses excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.

Is resilient, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.

Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Desirable Experience

Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with experience or knowledge of:

Trauma-Informed Practice and attachment-aware teaching.

Emotional literacy, anger management and behaviour support approaches.

Autism Spectrum Conditions and social communication needs.

Multi-agency working with children, young people and families.

Teaching PSHE or additional subject areas.

Systems such as Arbor and CPOMS.

PACE, MAPA/CPI or Team Teach approaches.

SEN-related qualifications or additional professional qualifications.
