About our Academy
Charnwood College is an oversubscribed 11 to 18 school, which has seen significant improvements over the last five years. The most recent Ofsted inspection rated the school as Good in all areas stating that ‘Pupils at Charnwood College experience a culture of respect and positivity’ and that ‘Leaders have established an inclusive and calm environment in which pupils can learn’. Staff and students follow ‘The Charnwood Way’, to create a positive, learning culture in which all students are immersed. The spacious, well‑maintained site offers excellent facilities over 40 acres. We have dedicated areas for a variety of sports, the arts and technology subjects. We are proud of our ambitious, knowledge‑rich curriculum providing broad and balanced opportunities for our students.
As part of the David Ross Education Trust, the curriculum is hugely supported through Curriculum Leads, resources and training sessions. Teachers follow a common lesson rubric and embedded routines to deliver high quality learning and consistency across the school. All classrooms are well equipped and have a visualiser in every room. Charnwood College are dedicated to developing and supporting staff at every stage of their career. We have a bespoke evidence‑informed CPD programme that allows opportunities to use the latest research to advance the intent, implementation and impact of the curriculum.
