About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced
Occupational Therapist & Therapy Lead to join our specialist team at our Bloomsbury site.
This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, supporting the development of our therapeutic provision while making a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, and other social, emotional and mental health needs.
As Occupational Therapist & Therapy Lead, you will deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, support teaching staff in creating therapeutic learning environments, and lead the ongoing development of therapy services across the school.
You will work collaboratively with families, education staff and other professionals to ensure students receive integrated, holistic support that enables them to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Occupational Therapy
- Assess students to identify occupational therapy needs and formulate appropriate intervention plans.
- Deliver targeted and specialist occupational therapy interventions within educational settings.
- Complete comprehensive assessments of sensory processing, motor skills, functional independence and self-regulation.
- Develop personalised therapy programmes and practical strategies for use in school and at home.
- Monitor, review and evaluate student progress, adapting interventions to maximise outcomes.
- Support students in developing the skills required to access learning, build independence and improve wellbeing.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for annual reviews, EHCPs and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Therapy Leadership
- Lead and contribute to the ongoing development and quality assurance of therapeutic services at the Bloomsbury site.
- Provide professional guidance and support to therapy colleagues, teaching staff and support teams.
- Promote a whole-school therapeutic approach and embed therapeutic practices throughout the school environment.
- Support the implementation of therapy objectives aligned to school improvement priorities.
- Contribute to service planning, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with senior leaders to ensure therapy provision meets the needs of students and the wider school community.
- Collaboration and Consultation
- Work collaboratively with teachers, families and external professionals to ensure joined-up support for students.
- Deliver training, coaching and advice to staff on therapeutic strategies, sensory regulation and functional skill development.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, reviews and consultations.
- Support families to implement therapeutic strategies and interventions beyond the school environment.
- Record Keeping and Professional Practice
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records in line with HCPC standards and school policies.
- Produce high-quality reports and documentation to support student outcomes and statutory processes.
- Attend supervision, line management meetings and continuing professional development activities.
- Maintain professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
- Ensure practice is informed by current evidence and best practice guidance.
About You
We are looking for someone who
- Holds a recognised degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Has experience working with children and young people with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, anxiety and SEMH needs.
- Has strong assessment, intervention and report-writing skills.
- Has experience leading projects, services or teams, or is looking to take the next step into a leadership role.
- Is committed to collaborative, child-centred and therapeutic ways of working.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
