We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated SENCo to lead and develop our SEND provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or existing SENCo to play a key strategic role in shaping inclusive practice and ensuring outstanding outcomes for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
About the role
As SENCo, you will work closely with school leaders, teaching staff, parents, carers and external agencies to create an environment where every learner feels valued, supported and able to succeed.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school. This includes coordinating support for individual pupils, ensuring statutory requirements are met and championing high-quality inclusive teaching.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the strategic development of SEND policy and provision across the school.
Managing and maintaining the SEND register and provision map.
Supporting and advising colleagues on effective SEND practice and quality first teaching.
Working collaboratively with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.
Coordinating and reviewing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Monitoring the impact of interventions and using data to drive improvement.
Leading and developing teaching assistants and delivering staff training.
Contributing to whole-school improvement planning and inclusive practice.
About the successful candidate
We are looking for a committed and knowledgeable professional who has:
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree-level qualification.
- National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or willingness to complete it within three years of appointment.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND developments.
- Experience of teaching and working at a whole-school level.
- Experience of leading staff development or INSET training.
- Excellent communication, leadership and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to analyse data and use it to improve outcomes for pupils.
- A commitment to inclusion, equality and achieving the best possible outcomes for every learner.
