CMC are working with a major contractor delivering a National Grid transmission project and are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong civils background and proven OHL and cable experience. This role will suit someone who has worked directly on National Grid frameworks or projects and understands the standards, processes, and safety requirements involved.

Key responsibilities

  • End-to-end project management of National Grid transmission works
  • Management of civils, overhead line (OHL), and cabling activities
  • Act as PCSM (Project Construction Safety Manager) for the project
  • Manage programme, cost, risk, and quality in line with NG requirements
  • Coordinate subcontractors, engineers, and site teams
  • Ensure compliance with National Grid standards, HSE legislation, and CDM regulations
  • Interface with National Grid stakeholders and internal senior management
  • Lead safety culture on site and across delivery teams

Requirements

  • Strong Project Manager experience on National Grid projects (essential)
  • Background in civil engineering
  • Proven experience delivering OHL and cable works
  • National Grid PCSM experience / accreditation
  • Strong understanding of NG processes, permits, and safety systems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to manage multiple workstreams and priorities

Desirable

  • Experience working for major NG contractors (e.g. Balfour Beatty, Murphy, Linxon, Omexom, Siemens Energy, Hitachi Energy)
  • SMSTS / NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
