Overview

CMC is supporting a major UK infrastructure programme and is looking to engage experienced Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) with current SSE authorisation at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV.

This role will support a portfolio of large-scale capital delivery projects across the South of England, including substation builds, transmission upgrades, and network reinforcement schemes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term programme delivering critical grid infrastructure across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

The SAP will play a leading role in the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of high-voltage construction activities, including:

• New substation builds and extensions
• Transformer installations and commissioning
• Circuit breaker replacement and upgrade projects
• Overhead line and cable route installation
• Associated civil and enabling works
• Ensuring full compliance with safety rules, permits, and switching procedures

Note: This position is focused on capital delivery, not LV operations or fault response.

Requirements

• Current SSE Authorisation at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV (essential)
• Proven experience acting as an SAP on transmission or distribution capital projects
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety rules, permit systems, and switching processes
• Background in HV substation construction, extensions, and related infrastructure delivery
• Ability to work across multiple project locations and oversee electrical safety compliance
• 12-month contract with strong potential for a long-term rolling extension (programme expected to run for 10 years)
• Opportunity to support major UK energy infrastructure upgrade programmes
