Join Our Latest Project – EMC Engineer (Defence / Military Standards)
CMC are supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced electronic equipment for highly regulated defence-related applications and are looking for an experienced EMC Engineer to support a critical compliance and qualification programme.
You’ll be joining a technically complex project focused on ensuring electronic hardware systems meet both UK and US military EMC standards, supporting product certification, testing, and system integration activities.
This is an initial 6-month contract opportunity, outside of IR35, with hybrid/on-site working in Aberdeen preferred depending on project and test activities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting EMC compliance activities across complex electronic systems
- Liaising with external EMC test houses and certification bodies
- Reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and cable designs for EMC robustness
- Supporting grounding, bonding, shielding, and filtering strategies
- Conducting and supporting EMC testing activities, including pre-compliance and formal qualification testing
- Troubleshooting EMC / EMI issues during development and integration phases
- Producing compliance documentation and supporting certification reporting
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams across the programme
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in electronics hardware and PCB design
- Experience working with military EMC standards such as MIL-STD-461 and DEF STAN 59-411
- Experience within defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated engineering environments
- Strong EMC testing and troubleshooting capability
- Experience working with external certification bodies and test organisations
- Understanding of grounding, bonding, shielding, and filtering methodologies
- Ability to work within hands-on engineering and development environments
