Currently we are looking for an experienced Safety Engineer to support a new aerospace programme currently in its concept and requirements capture phase. You’ll be working closely with the internal safety team and external aerospace partners to shape the system safety case and support critical design decisions.
This assignment will be just over 3 months in length, until the end of the year – and be worked on a hybrid working model, with the need to go to site in Leicester initially, and for key design reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Fault Tree Analyses (FTA) and safety architectures from the existing Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA).
- Provide system safety input into architecture development.
- Collaborate with an external aerospace subcontractor delivering the control system and software, ensuring alignment of safety requirements and system design.
- Contribute to safety planning, documentation, and reviews in line with aerospace standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in system safety engineering within aerospace or complex safety-critical domains.
- Experience with:
- FHA (Functional Hazard Analysis)
- FTA (Fault Tree Analysis)
- System architecture safety
- Familiarity with DO-178 safety considerations.
- Ability to work pragmatically in early-stage concept development, making reasonable assumptions where required.
Desirable
- Prior aerospace project experience (air systems, propulsion, controls, avionics).
- Strong stakeholder management with both engineering teams and subcontractors.
