Join Our Latest Project – Technical Author (Aerospace / Defence). CMC are supporting a leading engineering organisation in the aerospace sector and are looking for an experienced Technical Author to support the development of critical maintenance documentation for advanced products. You’ll be working on a high-priority programme focused on delivering Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) in line with iSpec 2200 standards, supporting both ongoing and upcoming product releases. This project can be completed remotely and will fall inside of IR35. This will be a 12 month project.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Creating and maintaining CMMs and technical publications
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, CAD data, and source analysis
  • Translating complex technical information into clear, structured procedures
  • Supporting Illustrated Parts Lists (IPL) and generating technical illustrations
  • Working within Structured FrameMaker (with Micon plugin) environments
  • Collaborating with engineering and maintenance teams to define procedures

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in technical authoring within aerospace, aviation, or defence
  • Ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings and technical data
  • Experience with iSpec 2200 / technical publication standards
  • Familiarity with Structured FrameMaker
  • Understanding of Simplified Technical English (STE)
  • Experience producing or supporting illustrations for manuals (highly desirable)
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with strong collaboration skills
