Join our latest project! Currently we’re looking for a number of Mechanical Technicians to join a leading engineering firm working across subsea and offshore sectors. In this position, you will play a key role in assembling large-scale mechanical and hydraulic systems, contributing to the build and integration of heavy subsea equipment. This role will be an initial 12-month contract with full-time presence required in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assemble large steel fabrications and associated subassemblies, including hydraulic cylinders, actuators, and operating systems.
  • Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, build instructions, and specifications.
  • Fit, align, and secure components using mechanical fasteners, pins, and supports.
  • Assist in the integration of mechanical and hydraulic systems as part of larger assemblies.
  • Conduct mechanical checks, measurements, and quality inspections throughout the build process.
  • Work collaboratively with electrical and hydraulic technicians to ensure full system integration.
  • Support lifting and handling of large structures using cranes and workshop equipment.

Key Skill Requirements:

  • HNC / ONC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical background, ideally with experience assembling large mechanical structures or machinery.
  • Proven experience in a heavy engineering or offshore/subsea environment.
  • Hands-on hydraulic experience (e.g. pipework, cylinders, actuators) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; basic CAD experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Good understanding of mechanical assembly principles, tolerances, and safe lifting practices.
