Coalesce Management Consultancy (CMC) have a consulting assignment available for a Project Manager to work on a project in the East Midlands Region. The Role: As the Grid Connections Manager, youāll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of grid connection delivery across a portfolio of renewable energy projects. Youāll ensure that every connection is delivered on time, in full compliance with technical and regulatory requirements, from initial design through to final energisation. Acting as the central point of contact between the business, DNOs, IDNOs, and National Grid, youāll manage the complete connection process and support the engineering and commissioning teams with your technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the entire grid connection process for solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects, from initial application through to energisation.
- Engage with DNOs, IDNOs, TSOs, and ICPs to ensure all connection activities comply with relevant technical, commercial, and regulatory standards.
- Review, interpret, and negotiate connection offers, G99 submissions, and both contestable and nonācontestable scopes of work.
- Collaborate with electrical design engineers to confirm that system and grid specifications (33ā275kV) are accurately met.
- Manage and review all technical documentation including singleāline diagrams (SLDs), protection coordination, and SCADA integration requirements.
- Provide the wider delivery team with technical support on gridārelated issues, risk assessments, and scheduling matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.
- Ensure all grid connection works comply with CDM regulations and the standards of UK Power Networks and National Grid.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering (Degree or HNC/HND level preferred).
- Demonstrable experience managing grid connection activities in the renewable energy or power generation industry.
- Inādepth knowledge of DNO/IDNO procedures, connection regulations, and standards (G99, G5/5, ENA standards).
- Handsāon experience with generation technologies such as solar, BESS, or wind.
- Strong grasp of electrical design principles, particularly in HV/MV systems.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
- Selfāmotivated, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to project sites when required.
- Prior experience working for or in partnership with a DNO, ICP, or EPC contractor.
- Familiarity with grid connection modelling tools and relevant software packages.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards professional registration.
