Join our latest project! We’re supporting a major subsea and marine defence programme and are now looking for an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join a portfolio of projects focused primarily on submarine escape and rescue systems. This role will suit engineers who are confident working from high-level customer requirements and translating them into robust, compliant, market-ready technical solutions. You’ll be operating across multiple work packages, typically delivering one-month task increments across an initial six-month engagement. Due to the nature of the projects, SC clearance is highly advantageous.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting and refining requirements, proposing compliant technical solutions
  • Managing obsolescence across electrical components and hardware
  • Writing specifications, test plans, and supporting validation activities
  • Producing SLDs, electrical schematics, 2D drawings (AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and 3D panel designs
  • Performing DC load analysis (24V & 128V SRV systems), voltage management and safety assessments
  • Delivering clear technical documentation and reports

Technical exposure will include:

  • Subsea cabling, connectors and penetrator design (stringent marine standards)
  • Communication and navigational systems (RS232, I2C, CANbus)
  • Instrumentation and sensor integration (water sensors, environmental controls)
  • DC motor and propulsion control systems
  • Lithium battery systems, BMS involvement and next-generation chemistries

All work will be delivered in compliance with DNV, Lloyd’s and marine third-party classification standards.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience writing technical specifications and test plans
  • Experience supporting validation and verification activities
  • Strong 2D design capability using AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • 3D experience for electrical panel design
  • Experience working to DNV and Lloyd’s standards
  • Cable and penetrator design experience
  • Instrumentation and sensor integration experience
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and technical writing skills
