Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – 400kV Substations Location: Remote (with occasional travel to sites across the UK) Contract Type: Contract Overview: We\’re looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of 400kV substation infrastructure on key National Grid projects . This role offers the opportunity to work remotely, with site visits as required, contributing to the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of major UK transmission works. What You’ll Be Doing: Lead or contribute to the design of 400kV substation layouts , including: Electrical schematics Cable routing Earthing and bonding systems Ensure full compliance with National Grid Technical Policies (TPs) and Technical Specifications (TSs) Coordinate with internal teams across civil, protection, and control disciplines to deliver integrated solutions Produce and review key design documentation, such as: Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) General Arrangement (GA) drawings Equipment and termination drawings Participate in design review processes, including DRNs , IDCs , and IDRs Support site surveys , and provide ongoing technical input through to construction and commissioning stages Adhere to CDM regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant H
