Join our latest project! CMC are supporting a critical industrial infrastructure upgrade programme and are now looking for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to provide design, assessment, and structural sign-off support across multiple facilities. The programme involves planned upgrades to existing bunker and silo structures, including new mezzanine floors, staircases, and associated modifications.
The role requires an engineer who can take ownership of structural assessments, produce compliant calculations and drawings, and formally certify construction works under UK Building Regulations. This is a hands-on, site-facing role. Due to the nature of the work, the engineer must be able to support activities in the Bristol area, with on-site attendance required during surveys, construction phases, and final sign-off activities. There will be some scope to WFH when possible. This is an initial 3-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension or follow-on scope depending on programme needs and performance. This role is outside of IR35.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a Structural Engineer on industrial or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrable experience designing and assessing structures like mezzanine floors, staircases, modifications to existing industrial structures etc
- Ability to produce structural calculations and drawings suitable for approval under UK Building Regulations
- Experience using ANSYS
- Experience using Solid Edge
- Experience reviewing existing structures and developing upgrade solutions
- Comfortable providing structural sign-off and construction-stage support
