Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Women Centre.

The Kirklees Women Making Changes Project is a partner of the Kirklees Domestic Abuse Specialist Services. We are recruiting a project worker to work with women impacted by domestic abuse who may have complex needs and/or are experiencing barriers to service engagement. The Project is one of several services that together form the Kirklees WomenCentre which is part of the wider WomenCentre organisation delivering services in Calderdale, Kirklees and Bradford.

For this role you will be expected to have knowledge of a range of issues that impact on women of all ages; including: domestic abuse, homelessness/housing needs, financial hardship, immigration concerns, drug & alcohol use/abuse, mental and physical health issues, cultural and language barriers and learning needs/disabilities.

Personal And Job-related Skills Will Include

  • Experience in advocacy work and managing a complex caseload
  • Experience of supporting people with multiple complex issues and working with competing demands
  • Knowledge of the impact on women of children being removed/legal access
  • Knowledge of entitlements to access all types of benefit and support for hearings both benefit and legal re custody, to assist with the completion of assessment forms
  • Experience of effective multiagency working
