Newsome Academy is looking for a leading specialist who wants to take the next step to a prestigious role in a progressive Academy and Multi-Academy Trust that is growing. You must be a forward-thinking, dynamic, and resilient teacher who, working with the Leadership Team, will provide high-quality teaching to help take the department to the next level. You will be a natural inspirer, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. A strong understanding of the latest educational landscape and how to achieve success within these parameters is essential.

This is an exciting stage for the department as we have made many changes across the school. The department consists of a close-knit team of professionals who have a reputation for being energetic, supportive and caring. You will be part of a supportive network that embodies the concept of a "family" within the Academy and Department. The department achieved outstanding results in Summer 2025.

We invest in and support our staff and have welcomed colleagues onto the Senior Leadership Team and other school-wide roles as part of their development. We support outward-facing initiatives through school visits and CPD training. There are opportunities to gain wider experience in whole-school initiatives and internal promotions have occurred in recent years. Responsibilities
  • Head of Curriculum Discipline: This is a TLR opportunity for an experienced leader or an aspiring candidate taking their first steps into leadership. Responsibility will be dependent on the applicant's strengths and what they can bring to the existing department. This could include leading a particular key stage, teaching and learning focus, or student engagement within the department.
  • Teacher of English: An enthusiastic ECT or an established teacher who would like to join an experienced and nurturing team. You will be responsible for delivery across KS3 and KS4, driving student progress, assessment and feedback, delivering quality first teaching, and creating/developing schemes of learning. ECTs will be supported by an experienced mentor.
