Job Summary
A Heavy‑Duty Cleaner on a permanent, part‑time basis (25 hours per week, 8:00am‑1:00pm Monday‑Friday) to undertake heavy lifting and removal of student refuse (general, recycling and glass bottles) from kitchen areas.
The salary is £17,683 per annum.
Responsibilities
- Clean designated areas within the Halls of Residence – bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and all white goods in kitchens.
- Vacuum, spot‑clean and shampoo carpets.
- Sweep and polish floors and clean stairs.
- Wash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades and shower curtains where appropriate.
- Empty waste bins and remove rubbish and glass from flats to bin‑store areas.
- Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting, and collect laundered linen from store for packing laundry during conference season.
- Take down and re‑hang curtains, clean internal windows where applicable.
- Move free‑standing furniture as required.
- Wash and clean glasses, cutlery, and cooking utensils where appropriate.
- Act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices.
- Maintain daily contact with residents, Residence Managers and UPP staff.
- Provide assistance with additional hours on student arrival and departure weekends as required.
Qualifications
- Experience of heavy‑duty or deep cleaning in a similar environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Attention to detail and a passion for excellent service.
- Good conversational standard of English and ability to read and interpret Health & Safety guidance.
- Flexibility to work additional hours with notice.
- Willingness to undergo satisfactory vetting and DBS check.
