UPP is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our onsite team in Plymouth. The full-time role reports to the Maintenance Manager and involves both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across our student accommodation portfolio. Salary up to £33,476.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance requests, focusing on plumbing and mechanical repairs.
  • Complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities in line with scheduled requirements.
  • Conduct statutory compliance checks and testing, including PAT testing, fire alarm testing and fire door inspections.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records.
  • Collaborate with specialist contractors and support the coordination of their activities on site.
  • Identify and report health and safety concerns while promoting a safe working environment.
  • Support colleagues across different trades and locations when required.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and be available to support key student arrival and departure periods.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or building services environment.
  • Organised, customer-focused and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Plumbing NVQ Level 2, BTEC or City & Guilds accredited qualification (6189, 6035, 6129) or equivalent.
  • Current valid driving licence.
  • Experience carrying out plumbing and mechanical maintenance repairs.
  • Knowledge of planned preventive maintenance and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
