Here at UPP we have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician - Fabric to join our team in Plymouth to provide a planned and responsive maintenance service, specialising in fabric and general building maintenance.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and participation in an on-call rota.

The salary is £26,743 per annum.

Role responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician - Fabric include

  • Deliver scheduled planned, reactive and remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), Helpdesk or Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are always maintained, and in line with the relevant schedules and Service Level Agreement.
  • Conduct minor repairs to building fabric, installations and maintenance to building related equipment, including assisting with the repair and maintenance of building infrastructure repairs such as fire doors and general doors, flooring, painting & decorating and other building related infrastructure tasks.
  • Complete suitable risk assessments prior to undertaking works and undertake works as per instructions within any relevant permit or work plan.
  • Carry out PPM in accordance with the schedule & liaise with specialist sub‑contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, including records for statutory compliance.
  • Carry out statutory testing including PAT testing, fire alarm testing, fire door testing and others, as required.
  • Report any Health and Safety issues relating to the residences ensuring all information is passed to the relevant persons.

We are looking for you to have worked in a similar role and environment and have great communication and organisation skills, along with the passion to do a great job.

Although not essential, qualification to Level 2 in Building Fabric or maintenance related trade / City & Guilds qualification and NVQ/BM Trada/BWF/FDIS Fire Door Installer qualifications would be beneficial.

You must be able to produce your qualification certificates at interview if shortlisted.

You will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends.
