We have an opening for a Heavy‑Duty Cleaner to join our team at UPP.
This permanent, full‑time position works 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, and pays £25,394.70 per annum.
Responsibilities
- Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens and all white goods in the Halls of Residence.
- Vacuum, spot‑clean and shampoo carpets; sweep, polish floors and clean stairs.
- Wash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades and shower curtains as appropriate.
- Empty waste bins and remove rubbish and glass from flats to bin‑store areas.
- Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting; collect, bag and pack laundered linen for collection during the conference season.
- Take down and re‑hang curtains, clean internal windows where applicable.
- Move free‑standing furniture when required.
- Wash and clean glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils as appropriate.
- Act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices.
- Maintain daily contact with residents, Residence Managers and UPP staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience with heavy‑duty or deep cleaning in a similar residential setting.
- Strong communication, organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good conversational standard of the English language.
- Ability to read and interpret Health & Safety guidance.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, particularly during student arrival and departure weekends.
- Successful completion of satisfactory vetting, including employment reference checks and a basic DBS check.
