Here at UPP Ltd we have an opportunity for a Gas Safe Plumber to carry out servicing and general maintenance activities across our Nottingham site.

Within this role you will be undertaking servicing, preventative maintenance and replacements as needed to a variety of boilers across our Nottingham Trent University portfolio which consists of 12 individual locations across the city.

You will also be carrying out breakdown repairs to our boilers and heating systems, Domestic Hot & Cold-Water systems and carry out a range of other general plumbing repairs to keep our sites operational.

This role is a full-time permanent position covering 37.5 hours per week.

Working hours are carried out between Monday to Friday, 7.5 hrs per day.

There is potential on call work outside of core hours.

The salary for this role is up to £42,000 per annum dependant on experience and qualifications.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and provide front line response for all plumbing and mechanical work.
  • Undertake all work in a safe working environment, assessing all Health and Safety issues before work commences and report any hazards or safety issues to the relevant Manager.
  • Carry out PPM in accordance with the schedule & liaise with specialist sub-contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, including records for statutory compliance.
  • Take the lead in stock management for the plumbing section (ordering, storage, distribution) ensuring appropriate parts are held and available to meet SLA timescales for repair.
  • Assist team colleagues in other trades as and when required including cross-trade skills sharing and with statutory testing for the accommodation.

We are looking for you to have time served as a Gas Registered engineer and hold in-date ACS Gas qualifications in order to carry out work on boilers, gas fired water heaters and unvented systems (CCN1, CENWAT, CDGA1, CPA1 & HWSS(G3).

Please note that should you be shortlisted for interview, you will be required to produce your original qualification certificates at interview.

You will have a good understanding of the operational procedures and safe working practices of building services and systems as well as good understanding of health and safety, with the ability to always work in a safe manner.

You will be a holder of a clean current UK driving licence as this is an essential requirement for this role.

You will also be prepared to work (with notice) additional hours when the needed, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends (approx. 2 weekends per year).
