Job Overview

A Multi Skilled Maintenance Technician specialising in plumbing and mechanical repairs is needed for the Leeds team at UPP.

This permanent full‑time role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.

Salary: £ per annum plus overtime. A current UK manual driving licence and a valid domestic gas safe qualification are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with the Service Level Agreement and provide front‑line response for all plumbing and mechanical work.
  • Conduct all work safely, assess Health and Safety issues before commencing work and report hazards or safety issues to the relevant manager.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance (PPM) as per the schedule and liaise with specialist sub‑contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and maintenance repairs, including statutory compliance records.
  • Assist with statutory testing, including fire alarm testing, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, fire detector checks, water temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and emergency lighting checks.
  • Lead building fabric stock management (ordering, storage, distribution) ensuring parts are available to meet SLA timescales for repair.
  • Assist team colleagues in other trades and share cross‑trade skills as required.
  • Prepare for and work additional hours when needed, especially during main student arrival and departure weekends.

  • Skilled plumber with experience in a maintenance environment and a range of repair work.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, consistently delivering high‑standard work.
  • Strong understanding of building services operational procedures, safe working practices and health and safety.
  • Capacity to work additional hours when required.
