Role Overview

This role is key to enabling the organisation’s strategic goals by providing high‑quality, business‑focused legal advice and support across a broad spectrum of commercial and corporate matters. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, Legal, you will work closely with Legal Department leadership to deliver clear, pragmatic advice on a range of legal matters across all areas of the organisation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provide accurate, practical and timely legal advice on commercial contracts, corporate transactions and regulatory compliance (UK and overseas).
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership and stakeholders across all functions to help deliver the Lloyd’s Strategy, providing legal and regulatory advice from an early stage or when requested in projects and programmes.
  • Identify, monitor and mitigate legal risks associated with Lloyd’s operations.
  • Communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop and maintain legal resources, including templates and guidance documents, to improve efficiency and support the wider organisation.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and priorities, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Instruct and manage relationships with external legal counsel when specialist advice is required, ensuring cost‑effective and high‑quality support.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Legal team by challenging existing ways of working, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and remove operational friction.
  • Contribute to an open and transparent culture of risk management and inclusive leadership.
