We are looking for a Direct Tax Manager to join our Tax team in London.

In this role you’ll provide tax advice and guidance on worldwide tax matters and help the market operate with integrity, efficiency and confidence across global markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct tax technical analysis and input into projects for the Market and for the Corporation.
  • Assist with lobbying of, and liaison with, UK and other tax authorities on behalf of the Market.
  • Manage the compliance process for Members’ income tax returns in specific countries.
  • Investigate legislative changes affecting the Market (with external advisers where necessary) and ensure these changes are incorporated into tax compliance systems and processes.
  • Respond to tax queries from the Market.
  • Maintain accurate tax information on Crystal+.
  • Act as a technical expert on direct tax matters for other departments.
  • Manage tax risk for the Market.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong experience in UK corporation tax compliance and reporting.
  • Knowledge of UK and international corporate tax principles (e. g., permanent establishment risk, transfer pricing, withholding taxes).
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is helpful but not required.
  • Exposure to international tax issues.
  • Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and simply.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to challenge and improve.
  • Strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach; ability to work with others and build trust across teams.
  • Experience grounding in UK and international corporate taxes with appropriate tax qualifications or relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing tax compliance processes.
  • Awareness of other taxes (e. g., VAT and premium taxes).
