CNX Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Estimator on behalf of a well-established interiors and fit-out contractor based in Glasgow. Specialising in suspended ceilings, partitions, acoustic solutions, and associated works across the Central Belt of Scotland, our client continues to grow and is now looking to strengthen their commercial team with this key appointment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator who can price accurately, think commercially, and take ownership of projects from enquiry through to handover. The successful candidate will work a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, based from the Glasgow office, reporting directly to senior management. The Role You will initially work closely with senior leadership to build familiarity with company systems, supply chain relationships, and operational standards. This is a hands-on estimating role suited to someone who is self-motivated and commercially aware. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Tendering * Take-off and pricing of suspended ceilings, drylining partitions, acoustic systems, and SFS packages from drawings and specifications * Review tender enquiry documents, drawings, and specifications in detail * Identify scope inclusions, exclusions, and commercial risks prior to submission * Advise on bid/no-bid decisions based on workload, margin potential, and project suitability * Prepare competitive and well-structured tender submissions using estimating software * Ensure all pricing is accurate, complete, and submitted within deadlines Material & Supplier Enquiries * Prepare and issue material enquiries to suppliers * Analyse and compare supplier quotations to achieve best value * Build and maintain strong supplier relationships Post-Tender Support * Attend post-tender interviews and presentations with main contractors * Produce detailed cost breakdowns and value engineering proposals * Respond to clarification requests and scope queries * Support commercial negotiations through to contract award Handover to Operations * Prepare clear scope documentation for successful tenders * Carry out structured handovers to operations teams, ensuring all project information, drawings, and pricing assumptions are documented Candidate Requirements Experience & Background * Experience estimating drylining, suspended ceilings, acoustic systems, and/or SFS packages * Candidates from a trade background will also be considered if they can demonstrate relevant estimating experience * Ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings and specifications * Strong commercial awareness and understanding of subcontract pricing * Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to tight deadlines Qualifications * HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar is advantageous but not essential * Relevant experience and demonstrated ability are valued above formal qualifications Software & Systems Applicants should be proficient with Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, and comfortable using construction-related software.
