CNWL is looking for a motivated and compassionate Primary Care Nursing Associate to join our Health & Justice team at HMP Bronzefield.

This role supports the delivery of healthcare services to the prison population, focusing on health promotion, long term condition management, and emergency care within a 7‑day, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities include assisting with medical emergencies, administering medication under the guidance of a registered nurse, wound care, vital observations, ECG recording, venepuncture, minor surgery assistance, health promotion, screening, and supporting prisoners with specific needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergencies and general alarms.
• Administer medication within the scope of competence and act as a second signatory as required.
• Provide wound care and assist with minor surgery.
• Take vital observations and diagnostics (blood pressure, pulse, SATs, blood glucose).
• Record ECGs and conduct venepuncture.
• Offer health promotion advice and conduct secondary health screening.
• Assist with sexual health prevention, screening and treatment clinics.
• Support patients with specific needs, including disabled and elderly prisoners.
• Assist with activities of daily living and develop care plans for prisoners with physical and mental health needs.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
• Maintain accurate, contemporary records in compliance with NMC guidance.
• Participate in assessment of care needs and implementation of care programmes.
• Assist with clerical and administrative duties as required.
• Promote privacy, dignity and infection prevention and control.
• Support working within a 7‑day a week service and adaptively manage workload.
• Work in partnership with other professionals and agencies involved in patient care.
• Adhere to procedures protecting vulnerable individuals.

Qualifications and Experience

• Good general education to A Level or GCSE standard (or equivalent).
• Relevant work experience, preferably within a secure environment.
• Evidence of personal development in previous employment.
• Basic working knowledge of IT and emails.
• Ability to communicate with patients of varying understanding and handle sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
• Willingness to undertake further training in areas such as patient personal care, phlebotomy and wound care assessment.

Benefits and Working Conditions

Salary: £29,812 – £32,715 per annum (incl. HCAS). Contract: Permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, 7‑day working week.
