We are looking for a Band 7 Home Enteral Tube Feeding Dietitian to join Ealing Community Dietetics within Central North West London NHS Trust, working with Ealing Community Partners. This full‐time permanent post involves leading the management of adult patients requiring home enteral tube feeding and nutrition support in the community. Responsibilities include visiting patients in their own homes or nursing homes, running clinics in health centres (face‐to‐face or telephone), providing specialist dietetic advice, managing a complex caseload, and working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team.
The role incorporates people‐management duties, supervising junior staff and students, and contributing to service development and quality improvement to enhance patient care and pathways.
Main Duties- Lead clinical dietetic expertise on home enteral tube feeding for adults; develop, disseminate and evaluate multidisciplinary Trust‐wide policies, strategies, guidelines, standards and protocols in this area.
- Investigate and implement extended roles for dietitians in enteral tube feeding.
- Provide leadership and support; train, develop and supervise dietetic staff in this area.
- Develop, implement and monitor enteral tube feeding services for patients and manage a general clinical caseload in the community.
- Authorise nutritional sip and enteral feeds for patients, ensuring effective use across West London and CNWL.
- Lead the development and provision of specialist multidisciplinary training packages around enteral tube feeding.
- Deliver and advance dietetic practice across Ealing Community Partners in line with service need; provide cover for and undertake responsibilities of the Nutrition Support Lead role as required.
- Maintain contemporaneous, accurate and comprehensive notes and records for each patient.
- Collect agreed statistical information in accordance with Trust and dietetic team standards.
Ealing community team includes specialist Nutrition Support Dietitians, Diabetes, Obesity, Cardiovascular disease and Paediatric Dietitians, nutrition practitioners and assistants. The department supports continual professional development and clinical supervision.
Detailed ResponsibilitiesClinical responsibilities include autonomous work, expert dietary advice across Trusts, assessment and diagnosis of nutritional problems, development of treatment plans, authorisation of feeds, monitoring of stock, communication of complex information to patients and carers, facilitation of behavioural change, ethical decision‐making, multidisciplinary collaboration, record keeping and data collection.
Person Specification- Health Professions Council registration as a dietitian.
- Extensive clinical dietetic experience in nutrition support and enteral feeding at Band 6 or above.
- Evidence of post‐registration education and training in nutrition support and enteral feeding.
- Advanced Dietetic Practice or equivalent.
- BDA Parenteral and Enteral Group Specialist or NAGE course.
- Supervisory skills training.
- Post‐registration training in Behaviour Change.
- Clinical audit, evaluation methods and critical appraisal.
- Contributing to service development, policy and guideline implementation.
- Training and teaching experience.
- Advanced evidence‐based practice in nutritional support and enteral feeding in adults.
- Knowledge of diverse issues and ability to work with people from varied backgrounds and socio‐economic groups.
