The opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified ParentâInfant Psychotherapist post within the Brent and Harrow Community Perinatal Mental Health Service. This position is open to applicants who have substantial postâqualification experience, and to appropriately qualified candidates with demonstrable expertise and experience in perinatal mental health who have less than significant years postâqualification experience.

Contract: Permanent â Partâtime, 30 hours per week (Tuesday mandatory as part of the MDT)

Main duties of the job:
- Provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment for women and partners during the perinatal period.
- Formulate and implement treatment and management plans for complex, highârisk cases.
- Offer risk assessment and riskâmanagement plans, and provide advice to other professionals.
- Deliver individual and group therapeutic interventions, including parentâinfant attachment work.
- Coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team, acting as lead professional where appropriate.
- Participate in audit, research, policy and service development.
- Provide clinical supervision and training to staff and volunteers.
Person specification:
- Postâgraduate or doctoral training in ParentâInfant Psychotherapy or a related field with a ParentâInfant component.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist or equivalent accreditation.
- Postâdoctoral or additional specialist training (e.g., CBT, couples work, group therapy).
- Formal training in ParentâInfant Psychotherapy or Psychoanalytic ParentâInfant Psychotherapy.
Previous Experience:
- Experience as a psychotherapist in perinatal or CAMHS settings, including MDT work.
- Experience exercising clinical responsibility for psychotherapeutic care within a multidisciplinary care plan.
- Experience teaching, training and/or supervising other mental health staff.
- Experience with child protection procedures.
- Experience working in a multicultural framework.
Other:
- Ability to provide support to carers and staff in distressing situations.
- Ability to employ clinical governance mechanisms for safe practice.
- Experience developing complex multimedia materials for presentations.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Expertise in specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of pregnant and postpartum women.
- Experience with a wide range of child and parent age groups.
- Ability to assess risk and act accordingly.
- Knowledge of newâborn and early infant development and theories of infant mental health.
- Capability to conduct audit and research in perinatal mental health.
- Proficiency in delivering interventions across cultural contexts.
