This is a fixed term locum post for a CAMHS Consultant psychiatrist within the CYP Community Eating Disorders Team, working alongside a specialist MDT team. The post includes 1PA for a Clinical Academic role. Relocation package (subject to eligibility) and a range of staff benefits.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership within the CYP Community and ICT teams.
- Consultant responsibility for patient care within the service.
- Consultation to other MDT members regarding urgent assessments and risk.
- Diagnose patients with an ICD‑10 code at assessment and ensure accurate documentation.
- Participate in weekly referral & assessment and MDT meetings, providing leadership, supervision and consultation.
- Work with lead therapists and consultant colleagues to manage referral, assessment and waiting list flow.
- Provide comprehensive initial assessments for complex clients.
- Provide psychiatric review and management of CYP ED team patients.
- Develop and review protocols with local paediatric services.
- Provide Responsible Clinician cover for paediatric wards.
- Access Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and review inpatient care for youth.
- Develop and sustain good working relationships and effective MEED pathways with Paediatrics.
- Contribute to CPA meetings and MHA assessments.
- Support the maintenance of a psychologically minded clinic culture.
- Attend Staff Group, CPD sessions and Consultant meetings.
- Manage, train and provide psychiatric casework supervision for trainees.
- Provide cross cover for Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues in the Eating Disorder Service.
- Act as an active member of the senior management team.
- Collaborate with MDT to develop the service, new models and best practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and patient information systems.
- Contribute to collection, monitoring and reporting of clinical outcome data.
- Coordinate with statutory and non‑statutory sector agencies.
- Ensure discharge processes comply with service policies.
- Complete Serious Incident Reports when required.
- Adhere to service policies and guidelines.
- Maintain up‑to‑date CPD.
- Lead or contribute to research, audit and service evaluation projects.
- Support monitoring of clinical outcome measures to inform service development.
- Promote evidence‑based practice within the MDT.
- Contribute to quality improvement, governance and service evaluations.
- Support teaching, supervision and training to medical students, trainees and colleagues.
Person specification:
Education, Qualifications and Training:
- Primary medical degree.
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
- Section 12 MHA approved clinician status.
- Additional postgraduate qualification relevant to specialty.
- Inclusion on the Child and Adolescent Specialist Register (or CCT within 6 months).
