Job overview: Lead the delivery of complex and commercial clinical trials across mental health, dementia, neurology, and community settings. Coordinate with NHS and community partners, provide patient-facing duties, and support junior staff.
Main responsibilities:
- Coordinate patient recruitment and retention in studies.
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and identify suitable Trusts for recruitment.
- Recruit participants according to NIHR protocols and obtain informed consent.
- Provide verbal and written information to participants and carers, and assist with questionnaire completion.
- Co‑ordinate treatment, assessment and follow‑up as per research protocol.
- Deliver clinical interventions such as IMP dispensing, collection and handling of biological samples.
- Support and supervise junior research staff and interns.
- Identify recruitment bottlenecks and work with the Research Delivery Manager to improve rates.
- Work according to Good Clinical Practice, research governance and Trust guidelines, and support monitoring and auditing visits.
- Maintain site files, trial master logs, SOPs and other documentation.
- Ensure data collection adheres to ICH GCP and Data Protection Act 1998.
- Record patient recruitment in the RRDN Data Entry System.
- Provide recruitment reports and support to research teams for assessment and follow‑up.
- Take clinical samples for studies, coordinate tissue collection and dispatch.
- Attend and lead project management group meetings.
- Maintain working relationships with clinical staff, service users, carers and external contacts.
- Disseminate information about NIHR research and the Noclor platform.
- Keep up to date with training, supervision and appraisal.
- Comply with infection control and other Trust policies.
- Support research governance and monitor adherence to NIHR and Trust policies.
- Assist in creating training packages and developing research capacity.
- Work with R&D staff to coordinate service information across North West London.
- Maintain filing systems and office management systems.
Person specification:
Education / Qualifications:
- Current NMC registration / PIN.
- ICH Good Clinical Practice training (or willingness to complete).
Knowledge & Experience:
- Knowledge of mental health, dementia and related health conditions.
- Experience in NHS or relevant third‑sector organisation.
- Understanding of delivering clinical research in community, mental health, dementia or neurological settings.
- Project management, service improvement or quality improvement experience.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate complex information confidently to diverse audiences.
- Public speaking experience.
- Willingness and ability to travel across North West London.
- Experience dispensing IMP or willingness to learn.
