Brent CAMHS offers a position for a dedicated CAMHS Practitioner with experience working with young people in the Youth Offending system and Enhanced Treatment team (ETT). The postholder will provide case‑management and direct intervention, ensuring the YOS cohort is well coordinated and supported within Brent YOS and ETT.

Contract: Permanent, Part‑time – 30 hours per week. Band: 7 – £55,524 to £62,652 per annum inclusive of HCAS. Closing: 02/07/2026 23:59. Location: Monks Park Health Centre and Brent Civic Centre, Wembley.

Main duties of the job:

  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with YOS colleagues within the local authority.
  • Manage service delivery expectations and coordinate risks to young people in the service.
  • Attend YOS team at Brent Civic Centre at least one day per week (maximum two) and be based at Monks Park for at least two days per week.
  • Support and improve mental health outcomes for young people involved in the youth offending system.
  • Co‑work with local agencies, private sector and voluntary sector partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment, early intervention and referral to primary and secondary health care services.
  • Develop and support systems to ensure young people entering the youth justice system receive comprehensive mental and physical health care.
  • Target YOS service users to develop robust assessment and health planning systems, establishing a whole‑systems approach to care.
  • Work within the framework of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to deliver CAMHS services to the Youth Offending Service.
  • Ensure young people in contact with the youth justice system have equal access to health services as any other young person.

Person specification:

Training and Qualifications:

  • Professional health or social care qualification at postgraduate level.
  • Current registration with a regulated professional body (e.g., HCP, NMC).
  • Formal postgraduate learning within a relevant CYPS/CAMHS setting.
  • CYP IAPT training.

Experience:

  • Post‑qualification clinical experience in a highly specialist, evidence‑based setting.
  • Experience delivering services to children and young people with complex, multi‑agency needs.
  • Demonstrated risk assessment and safety planning capability for high‑risk youth.
  • Experience leading high‑quality specialist services, including consultation, assessment, and therapeutic intervention.
  • Experience in CAMHS care coordination and complex case management.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and consultation to staff.

Professional/Managerial/ Specialist Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of evidence‑based interventions appropriate for CAMHS.
  • Knowledge of legislation, national policies and guidance regarding mental health, youth offending and learning disability needs.
  • Awareness of equality, diversity and anti‑discrimination practice.
  • Knowledge of parental mental health and learning disability impacts on children and young people.
  • Experience with routine outcome measurements and evaluation against expected outcomes.
  • Clinical knowledge of adult mental health problems applicable to young people.

Personal skills, abilities and attributes:

  • Commitment to developing specialist CAMHS skills through reflective practice and CPD.
  • Strong ability to build working relationships within a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Effective clinical leadership, contributing to continuous improvement and service development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including report writing.
  • Ability to operate flexibly within unpredictable working patterns.
