Job overview
The Community Independence Service in Kensington and Chelsea seeks a motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist for our Community Rehabilitation Team. You will bring clinical experience and be ready to work in the community, advancing both clinical and non‑clinical skills.
The community setting prioritises care at home and patient care in the community whenever possible. We collaborate across the tri‑borough and with acute partners such as Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Working with a client group where you can make a significant difference daily, you will be part of a multi‑agency team that includes Medical, Mental Health, Nursing, AHPs, Social Care and Reablement staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will see clients newly discharged from hospital, applying evidence‑based, patient‑centred principles to assess, plan and deliver individual treatment plans. You will undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, with supervision from senior therapists within CIS.
Expectations include promoting, maintaining and developing a high‑quality, efficient, and effective physiotherapy service in line with team philosophy and operational policies. You may develop undergraduate placements for students.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Registration with HCPC as a Physiotherapist
- Member of CSP
- Post‑registration courses – e.g. Neurology, Older people/elderly rehab, Goal setting, Student Placement Educator
- Membership and/or involvement in a CSP professional network
Previous Experience
- Experience working in the UK or a similar health economy as a physiotherapist
- General experience in older people/elderly rehab, orthopaedics, general surgery, falls, dementia, respiratory
- Teaching juniors/rehab assistants
- Completion of audit and service developments
- Autonomous practice in a community setting
- Experience in neurology, community working, pain management, group work
- Teaching students
Skills and knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in written and verbal English
- Demonstrates flexibility, problem solving, initiative and leadership skills
- Able to demonstrate clinical and professional development
- Understanding principles of Multi‑Disciplinary Teamwork
- Understanding of disability issues
