The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
As an integral and highly valued member of the multi‑disciplinary team, the Support Worker will provide drug and alcohol assessments, brief interventions and practical assistance to service users within the ARC‑MK services.
Main duties of the job:
- To provide case management and direct clinical care to a defined number of clients as agreed with the Sector Manager or management team, including assessment, planning and specialist care.
- To assess and case manage drug‑using clients, applying the precepts of harm minimisation.
- To use agreed and established Outcome Monitoring Tools and any other relevant quality measures.
- To manage the transfer of individuals between agencies and services.
- To support individuals regarding their substance use, using motivational interviewing, relapse management and other evidence‑based interventions.
- To ensure full risk assessment and risk management is delivered effectively, under supervision.
- To ensure the highest quality of service is delivered by following local and national quality and performance standards, guidance, protocols, procedures and practice guidelines.
- To ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, including the Serious Incident policy.

Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
- Basic Level 2 English and Maths
- Commitment to obtain underpinning knowledge through work‑based learning and mandatory training
- Any specific training in Dual diagnosis
- Completion of courses that are DANOS compliant
- Motivational Interviewing
Experience:
- Experience of working with people with substance use issues
- Experience of supporting with the development of individual care plans for managing recovery
- Voluntary experience in the field of addictions and/or mental health
- Experience of working within Mental Health and/or addictions settings
Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to communicate on all levels and to a broad scope of individuals, both internally and externally to the Addictions Services
- Empathy, compassion and patience
- Non‑judgemental, calm and professional response to distress and unpredictability
- Knowledge of treatment pathways in addictions
- Ability to work unsupervised in a range of settings
- Understanding of diversity issues and promotion of anti‑criminatory practice
- Practical skills to support daily living activities
- Good organisational skills and effective teamwork
- Knowledge of client recovery and basic food hygiene, first aid, health & safety, moving and handling, local services, benefits/ employment systems
Other:
- A preparedness to work flexible hours in accordance with the needs of the job (e.g., evenings & weekends)
- Ability to travel between locations using own or public transport
