CNN is seeking a senior business editor to join its EMEA headquarters in London. The role will take a leading role in shaping the world’s biggest and most important stories at the intersection of business, economy, and current affairs.

Role Accountabilities

  • Lead the business news agenda during EMEA hours and oversee editorial across all CNN platforms, focusing on business, markets, tech, media, and economy coverage, while spotting emerging regional trends.
  • Set up the morning for CNN’s US audience, advancing overnight stories and ensuring essential business content greets US readers and subscribers as they wake up.
  • Commission, frame, edit, and write editorial content for all CNN platforms, including breaking news, analysis, and distinctive enterprise journalism across digital text, video, and visuals.
  • Collaborate closely with correspondents, editors and stakeholders worldwide on multi‑region, multi‑platform projects.
  • Ensure all journalism produced adheres to CNN standards and integrity.
  • Manage at least one business reporter on the EMEA newsdesk.
  • Act as a key editorial link between CNN’s APAC and US operations as part of the global 24/7 digital‑first cross‑platform team.
  • Work occasional weekends and evenings as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum eight years of business news editing and/or writing experience for leading digital‑first news outlets, with a proven track record in high‑pressure, breaking‑news environments.
  • Superior news judgment, the ability to think in headlines and frame complex business stories for a global audience, especially the US morning market.
  • Experience conceiving and producing distinctive enterprise journalism, identifying unique reporting opportunities and/or investigative work.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and news judgment skills and an obsession with precision.
  • A strong desire to experiment with storytelling formats and think creatively about serving a multiplatform audience.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with a demonstrable track record of executing detailed digital‑first coverage plans.
  • Perfect grasp of written and spoken English.

Hybrid Working

Hybrid work model combining remote and in‑office work, following current company policy and agreed with line manager. Subject to applicable laws, WBD reserves the right to change the working agreement where essential to business needs and with reasonable notice.
