Basic Function
This position is responsible to develop Electro-Hydraulic Components and Systems to meet vehicle, cost, quality, and manufacturing requirements inside Small&Medium Tractor – Hydraulic & Pneumatic Engineering Team.
Generates and develops new product, staring from ideas/concepts consolidated at TRL5, for advanced development of hydraulic components and systems consistent with platform and component product line objectives.
Be accountable for components and system design release to achieve project targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributes to the overall profitability of new and existing products.
- Contributes to the improvement of overall warranty reduction activities.
- Contributes to cost reduction methods related to component design on new and existing products
- Contributes to CNH design standards and methodologies.
- Design and development of hydraulic and mechanical components and systems, including electro-hydraulic systems for mobile applications.
- Generates new design concepts for assigned projects which will improve performance, value proposition to the customer or increases number of features.
- Pursues actively new and innovative designs with potential for invention disclosure.
- Develops plans to achieve cost and reliability targets of assigned components and systems.
- Creates engineering and performance specifications for new components or systems and works closely with suppliers during the development and validation phase.
- Maximizes standardization and continuous improvements across components and systems.
- Develops common processes & procedures and promotes usage across vehicle platforms.
- Provides technical expertise and liaison to other functions within CNH Industrial to resolve issues and to explore and champion design / system alternatives.
- Manages workload and prioritization of assigned projects and communicates frequently with other product lines and functions.
- Utilizes CAD, Matlab and other relevant software to develop designs and layouts.
- Incorporates engineering standards / methodologies and CNH Industrial global product development processes into daily work tasks.
- Ensures completion of engineering activities within project objectives and improves overall design and team efficiency.
- Creates robust component or system designs to meet vehicle requirements using computer aided design tools and calculations as required.
- Encourages new and innovative design concepts, inventions, patents and opportunities for improvement.
- Analyzes current production hydraulic components to reduce cost and warranty or to increase features/performance.
- Partners with suppliers to tune/develop component designs for use in CNH Industrial applications.
- Provides recommendations and updates to direct manager and/or component product line team.
- Communicates with cross functional groups within platform, product engineering and/or product validation.
- Communicates with cross functional groups within quality, manufacturing, marketing, purchasing or other component groups.
- Communicates with suppliers. Contributes and supports direct manager to create and improve a team working approach and environment.
- Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with min. of 3 years of experience on hydraulic system or component design, preferably for mobile off-highway applications
- Demonstrated understanding of hydraulic component and system design, including electro-hydraulic systems
- Demonstrated experience with Customer Services
- Excellent problem solving and project management abilities
- Fluent English
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with min. of 3 years of experience on hydraulic system or component design, preferably for mobile off-highway applications.
