Job Purpose Basildon Tractor Plant is seeking an individual with a keen passion for a career in Environmental Health and Safety, with the ability to audit production areas and contractors, produce written reports of findings and assist engineers with solutions to meet or exceed legal requirements. The role includes assisting with internal and external ISO audits and the closure of findings, investigating incidents and accidents to root cause, carrying out general administration duties and assisting in the development and continuous improvement of management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise/train/coach all employees at all levels on their legal responsibilities and safety culture.
- Support the Safety Manager in his duties.
- Present projects to management and auditors.
- Assist in audits and inspections on the shop floor.
- Be a key administrator for incident records, KPI's and other data.
- Provide suggestions/advice for the best solutions for problems/incidents/compliance.
- Provide written reports on inspections/incidents/non-conformities.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of the ISO management systems 14001, 45001, 50001.
- Maintain CPD for self‑development within EHS & ISO standards.
Experience Required:
- A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management preferable, but other associated engineering, science or process subjects acceptable.
- A passionate, driven individual, keen to develop themselves and improve the world we live in.
- A minimum of a good level of written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 standards is desirable.
- Ability to talk to senior management and authorities regarding legal and technical issues.
- Good presentation skills and the ability to teach.
- Good standard of knowledge of the MS Office package.
- Experience of heavy vehicle manufacturing/maintenance is desirable.
- Willingness to look beyond mere legal compliance and strive to help CNH to become an industry leader in EH&S.
- A passion for the promotion of EH&S in the workplace, with a practical real‑world outlook.
- Attention to detail, a well‑organised team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to contribute on a technical level.
