Location: Mere
Pay Rate: TBC
Contract: Full Time Permanent
Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 5:15pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:15pm
Role Purpose: To oversee the technical aspects of production within the Mouldings department. This includes working closely with operators, managing materials and documentation, and ensuring all manufacturing processes meet production plans and performance objectives. The role is also accountable for carrying out preventative maintenance, safety checks, and basic equipment repairs to ensure optimal operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand manufacturing plans and implement them effectively, ensuring machines are set in line with required specifications.
- Install mould tools safely and ensure machines are correctly set to manufacture products in accordance with specification sheets and control samples.
- Plan and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and apply technical fixes to minimise downtime.
- Ensure correct materials and stock are used throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor product quality against customer specifications and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure all operators understand and follow Health & Safety procedures when operating machinery.
- Maintain workspaces, tools, and storage areas in a clean, organised, and safe condition.
- Ensure all manufacturing documentation, machine settings, and labelling are accurate, current, and fit for purpose.
- Provide technical support and assist with training operators in coordination with Team Leaders.
- Promote efficient and effective working practices within the department.
- Respond to material or product queries and escalate issues where necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Communicate daily with the Mouldings Manager regarding technical issues and report any matters that may impact production targets or schedules.
- Support operators to achieve best practice and optimal manufacturing performance.
Skills and Attributes:
- Level 3 professional qualification in Injection Moulding and Automated Systems (E)
- Good understanding of general manufacturing practices and procedures (E)
- Extensive technical knowledge of injection moulding machines within a manufacturing environment, with 8 years of practical experience (D)
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines (E)
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems such as MRP, with a good understanding of their business importance (D)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (E)
- Ability to develop and support focused teams (E)
- Motivated and driven to improve performance and processes (E)
