CNC Recruitment are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our clients team within a manufacturing/engineering environment. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet defined quality standards through inspection, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Taunton
Salary: £18 per hour
Contract: Temporary (3-4 months)
Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm, Friday 8am - 2pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct first-off inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Ensure products and processes comply with AS9001 and ISO9001 quality management standards.
- Interpret and review engineering and technical drawings, including geometric symbols and tolerances.
- Perform dimensional inspections using metrology and measurement equipment.
- Use inspection tools including: Callipers, Micrometres, Plug gauges, Screw plug gauges, Screw ring gauges, Gap gauges.
- Read and follow control plans to ensure correct inspection and quality processes are applied.
- Identify non-conformities and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
- Support internal and external audits as required.
- (Nice to have) Program metrology equipment where required.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong working knowledge of AS9001 and ISO9001 and their practical application.
- Proven experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Practical experience using metrology equipment and inspection tools.
- Experience conducting precision inspections in a similar environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
